The Florida State Seminoles shook off a slow start to the season with an inspiring 54-28 win on the road at BYU, a team that was then ranked in the top 10. Quarterback Christian Ponder managed a great game as the ‘Noles scored a touchdown on their first four possessions. Ponder was 21-for-26 passing for 195 yards and two touchdowns. He was particularly outstanding on third downs with good decisions and scrambling, converting on the first 9 third downs.
“He can beat you with his arm, his legs and his mind,” offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher said of Ponder. “We played so well around him”.
For his great play, Christian Ponder is awarded the “Legends Nike Game Ball” for the National Offensive Player of the Week.
