The Iowa Hawkeyes outlasted the Michigan Wolverines in Iowa City, 30-28. Hawkeye quarterback Rick Stanzi overcame an early disaster to help Iowa preserve its perfect 6-0 record. On the second play of the game Michigan defensive back Donovan Warren intercepted Stanzi and returned the ball 44 yards for a touchdown. Stanzi and the Hawkeye’s were unshaken and didn’t turn the ball over again. Stanzi finished 20 of 38 for 284 yards and 2 touchdowns.
“We’re going to have to fight adversity,” Stanzi said, “and we’ve had to do that a lot in our football games, and that’s just going to help build character”.
For his great play, Rick Stanzi is awarded the “Legends Nike Game Ball” for the National Offensive Player of the Week.
