Game Ball: Oregon Off. Coordinator Mark Helfrich

The Oregon Ducks exercised some early season offensive demons as they routed then sixth-ranked California Golden Bears 42-3 in Eugene, Ore.  New offensive coordinator Mark Helfrich’s game plan of short quick passes allowed quarterback Jeremiah Masoli to gain confidence and establish a rhythm.  Masoli was 21-of-25 for 253 yards and three touchdowns.

“Our deal going into the game was to execute a base passing game protect, throw, catch,” Helfrich said. “Those guys did a great job of that and that really complimented our run game”.

The Duck totaled 524 yards of offense and were 100 percent successful on five trips inside the red zone.

For his team’s great play, Mark Helfrich is awarded the “Legends Nike Game Ball” for the National Offensive Coordinator of the Week.
