The USC Trojans held on against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in South Bend, 34-27. Trojan offensive coordinator John Morton stayed with freshman quarterback Matt Barkley and the passing game after a slow start in the first half. That decision proved wise as Barkley completed eight passes in a row in the second half to end with a career high 380 yards and two touchdowns. The Trojans added another 121 yards rushing for an impressive total of 501 yards.
For his team’s great play, John Morton is awarded the “Legends Nike Game Ball” for the National Offensive Coordinator of the Week.
