You may not have noticed amidst the conference realignment coverage, but there’s a huge early season match-up in the Big 12 on Saturday.
No. 7 Oklahoma State brings its high-powered offense in to College Station to face No. 8 Texas A&M. Former Aggie head coach R.C. Slocum says that Texas A&M’s 12th-man will be a factor.
“Well, I think we have a great home advantage,” Slocum said. “The last 2 games have been sell-out-plus against no name opponents. They’re playing it next Saturday afternoon at 2:30.
“I was hoping it would be at night, but we’ll have as good a crowd and as good an atmosphere as you could have.”
Both offenses have been lighting up the scoreboard this season. Texas A&M is averaging over 41 points per game and Oklahoma State is scoring just under 50 points per game. Slocum says the game will likely be decided on the defensive side of the ball.
“We’re playing a good football team and it’ll be decided on the field, but it should be a great ball game,” Slocum said. “I don’t know how it’ll come out. Our quarterback’s playing really well right now. We’ve got 2 good running backs. We’ve got a big, physical offensive line and a scrappy defense so we got a chance.”
